  We removed our 5 year old preschooler from a larger local preschool in February because his teacher said he would not be academically ready for kindergarten. We placed him in the Academic Learning Center and immediately saw improvement in his pre-literacy and math skills. Not only was he taught to recognize his letters and numbers, he learned to read and write. Unlike the larger local preschool, Shila and Yar adapt their teaching to the individual student. They also focus on the development of appropriate social skills while keeping the kids engaged and active through art projects as well as indoor and outdoor play. Our son entered kindergarten this fall fully prepared and with confidence. He is thriving academically and socially and continues to attend the after school program at the Academic Center.
